A private client sought assurance for the protection of one of his largest and most beloved assets – a European-designed superyacht, frequently used for global travel and exclusive gatherings. While the client's family office managed general risk oversight, it lacked the maritime security expertise required to address the complexities of risks related to the protection of high-profile passengers, and multi-jurisdictional travel. Recognizing this gap, our client turned to Aventel to uncover potential vulnerabilities and enhance crew readiness.

Leveraging our extensive maritime experience - spanning risk assessments, crew training, and intelligence gathering—our experts developed a comprehensive program tailored to the vessel’s profile and operating regions.

We began by conducting detailed consultations with the crew to understand the incidents, their self-identified vulnerabilities, and the vessel’s frequent operational regions. Using this intelligence, Aventel developed a dual-format training program:

• Scenario-Based Tabletop Exercises: Crew collaboratively analyzed real-world threat scenarios, identifying weaknesses and decision gaps.
• On-Vessel Drills: Practical exercises simulated live conditions to validate procedures and build team coordination under pressure.

Insights from these sessions informed the creation of tailored Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring all actions were relevant, tested, and owned by the crew.

The engagement transformed the vessel’s security posture from reactive response to proactive resilience. The crew now operates under tested SOPs supported by continuous intelligence inputs, enabling faster decision-making and consistent standards across all voyages.
